Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how tingzhe li ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use JumpRope Counter, our free Android mobile application for camera-based jump-rope counting and workout tracking (the "App" or "Services").
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App. Questions: techskillplanet@gmail.com.
Summary
- Camera frames and body-pose landmarks are processed on your device with MediaPipe; we do not upload video or pose data to our servers.
- Workout records and settings are stored locally in the App’s private storage (SharedPreferences).
- We request camera permission for jump counting. Internet access is used to open this policy and, when advertising is enabled, to load ads.
- We do not require an account and do not collect precise GPS location.
- The App may show Google AdMob banner and app-open ads; consent is handled with Google UMP where required.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
We do not require registration. If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to provide (such as your email address and message content).
1.2 Information processed on your device
Based on the current App implementation, the following is processed or stored locally:
- Front-camera preview frames — used only for real-time full-body pose analysis and jump detection; frames are not saved as video files by the App.
- Pose landmarks — calculated on-device (MediaPipe Tasks Vision) for positioning guidance and counting; not uploaded to us.
- Workout records — jump count, workout mode (count / timed / free), duration, pace, and timestamp, stored in private SharedPreferences (capped locally).
- Preferences — language, sport color theme, sound effects, background music, voice coaching, haptic feedback, pose overlay, and start method.
- Optional diagnostic CSV files — written under the App’s private documents/files area for counting diagnostics; they leave the device only if you deliberately share a file through another app. Normal “Share workout” uses system share with text only (count, duration, date).
- On-device text-to-speech — optional voice encouragement uses the system TTS engine; we do not send speech text to our servers.
Clearing App data or uninstalling removes local workout records, preferences, and diagnostic files stored by the App.
1.3 Device permissions
- Camera — required for guided positioning and smart jump counting
- Internet / network state — open the online privacy policy; when ads are enabled, load ads and Google UMP consent messages
You can change permissions anytime in your device settings. Smart counting cannot operate without camera permission.
1.4 Information collected by third-party services
When advertising is enabled in the App, we may use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP). Those SDKs may collect limited technical and advertising-related data, such as:
- Device type, operating system version, language, and app version
- Advertising ID (GAID) and IP address (for ad delivery and measurement)
- Diagnostic and performance data related to ad services
Third parties we may use include:
- Google AdMob — adaptive banner ads on Home / Calendar / Statistics, and optional app-open ads (Google Privacy Policy)
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — privacy consent where required (Play data disclosure)
We do not use Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Sign-In, or other Google APIs that access your Google account data. We do not collect precise geolocation from your device.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide jump counting, workout tracking, calendar, records, statistics, and settings
- When ads are enabled: display non-intrusive banners after content sections and optional app-open ads (not during prepare / workout / result / share / settings flows)
- Respond to support requests and improve app stability
- Comply with applicable laws
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with:
- Service providers (Google AdMob / UMP, when ads are enabled) under their own privacy policies
- Legal authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety
- Business transfers if our app or assets are acquired (you would be notified as required by law)
Workout data, camera frames, and pose landmarks are never sent to us unless you voluntarily include them (for example, in a support email). System share targets receive only what you choose to share.
4. Data Retention
- On-device data — kept until you clear app data or uninstall the App
- Support emails — kept as long as needed to handle your request
- Third-party SDK data — retained according to Google’s policies; you can reset your advertising ID in Android settings
5. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the data we process. Because workout and camera analysis stay on your device, you control them through your device security settings. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us information.
7. Health Disclaimer
JumpRope Counter is a general fitness tracking aid. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment advice, or emergency services. Consider your health and consult a qualified professional when appropriate before starting an exercise program.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information.
- Local data — clear app storage or uninstall the App
- Advertising — when ads are enabled, opt out of personalized ads in Android Settings → Google → Ads, and use the in-app privacy options entry when UMP requires it
- Contact us — email techskillplanet@gmail.com
If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA. We will respond to verified requests within the time required by applicable law.
9. International Users
The App is available internationally. Third-party providers may process data in countries other than yours. By using the App, you understand that such processing may occur subject to those providers’ safeguards.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
